This problem generally is prominent in the thighs or legs or sometimes the face too. AS a result people refrain from wearing short dresses and are constantly hiding it with the help pf stockings or so. But now there are several ways to cure spider veins.

Cause

Spider veins can be similar to varicose veins to some extent. However in the former, these veins are towards the upper layer of the skin and thus very visible. These can be present is some small areas of the body or may be present in large amounts too. This condition is caused due to weak valves. Generally the blood flows from your legs to the body and vice versa with the help of valves present in the veins. Sometimes the valves become weak and the blood gets stuck in some portions of the leg. This leads to those colorful patches and also is a cause of both varicose and spider veins.

There can be many reasons for the weakening of valves, one being age. Besides these, changes in the body due to puberty, menopause, pregnancy, excessive weight gain, excessive exposure to the sun in case of fair skin people etc are also responsible for weak valves. The valves can weaken also in case of people who have to stand or walk a lot throughout the day. Sometimes it is hereditary and thus runs in the entire family.

Treatment

But due to the advancements in the field of cosmetic surgery and medicine, one can easily get rid of these spider veins in no time. The surface laser treatment was one option but it involves a lot of pain and also requires a prolonged healing time. The new treatment that has gained popularity in recent times is sclerotherapy. Most cosmetic doctors recommend this treatment to their patients for effective removal of spider veins. The procedure is totally free of pain and does not require any anesthesia too. The entire procedure is completed in almost half an hour and may not require more than 3 sittings in all.

In this treatment, a small needle is used to inject a saline or salt water based solution into the unwanted veins i.e. the veins whose valves have weakened completely. This leads to irritation in the veins which results in swelling and sealing of the veins and then they turn in to a scar tissue. These scars or unwanted veins will fade away in a few weeks after the procedure is complete. Strenuous activities must be avoided for few days post treatment and stockings which offer good support must be used for the veins to heal quickly. Getting in touch with an experienced cosmetic doctor will make the entire process safe, effective and quick.
